"Jazz",
registered name Dobeherr Hot Aphrodite was the pick bitch from "Sars's"
first litter. She joined "Sars", "Max" and I when
she was eight weeks old and from then on lived up to her name, keeping
all of us on our toes. At that time I lived on the shores of a lake,
and walked for an hour early every morning letting the three of them
free run through long grass, sand hills and water. This proved beneficial
for all of them. "Sars" had her best years in the show ring
through 1993 and 1994 and the exercise helped develop "Jazz"
to her peak. Of course, she found it hard at first because the bitch
she had to beat was her mother!
I will never
forget the time she won her first Reserve Challenge to "Sars".
"Jazz" had taken a dislike to a dog on the opposite side
of the ring and insisted on standing at right angles to the Challenge
line-up and barking. The judge awarded "Sars " the Challenge
and Reserve Challenge to "the mouth!" Then there was the
time I slipped on a wet muddy patch in the ring while running her
around for Challenge, dislocated and broke my shoulder - well, that's
another story and we all have something similar to tell don't we?

Nevertheless,"Jazz"
still managed to achieve a number of BIG wins, a RUBIS , Junior
In Show at the Queensland Specialty under Bill Garnet (USA) and
her Championship title well before she was two years of age.
At the end of 1994, I moved to Albury (work dictated) and had to
make a hard decision - whether or not to part with "Jazz".
She was just too good a bitch to take away from the mainstream of
dog showing in Australia, the Sydney/Newcastle area. In the end,
I entered into joint ownership with Annette and Doug Bowe of Firezan
Kennels, and left her in their care. The best decision I ever made!
Both are excellent handlers and being able to show a dog off to
best advantage really does provide that winning edge! Annette showed
"Jazz" to win her first BIS All Breeds in early 1995,
and not long after, Doug showed her to win BIS at the 7th Dobermann
National under Mr G Hunt (UK)! From then on there was no stopping
her!
In September
2002, Jazz showed them all how it should be done, taking out Best
In Show at the Uility Dog Club of NSW's Championship Show at almost
ten years of age.
